We have made a chart to explain how engines affect the raft speed. First, a few things to know to be able to understand the chart better:
- Each engine can carry 100 foundations.
- Each engine can carry an extra 10 foundations. However, they will work slower(slow zone).
- Each engine has a speed of 2.
- Engine speed will be cut in half if engine is in "Slow Zone".
- Minimum raft speed is 1.5 and max raft speed is 2,5. If the speed is under or above these numbers, it will automatically have the minimum or maximum speed.
- Collection nets do not count in the foundation number.
ENGINES & FOUNDATION NUMBER & RAFT SPEED
Here in the chart above, you can see the engine speed exceeding 2,5. In these situations raft will not go any faster. In other words, raft will have the same speed no matter how many extra engines there are after hitting the 2,5 speed mark.
Let's explain this better with examples:
Example 1:
You have 1 engine and 107 foundations, your speed will be 1.5. Why?
1 engine = 2 speed, however, since you have 107 foundations, you are in the slow zone.
Slow zone cuts the speed in half. So, you should have 2/2=1 speed. 1 speed automatically ups to 1,5 speed because that it is the minimum speed in any situation.
Example 2:
You have 1 engine and 99 foundations. Your speed will be 2.
1 engine = 2 speed and you are in the 1-100 mark. So everything is in order!
In this case, you are still under max speed so could add 1 more engine to go faster.
2 engines and 99 foundations. 2(engine number) x 2(speed per engine) = 4 total speed
Since max speed is 2.5, the speed will be reduced from 4 to 2.5
Example 3:
You have 5 engines and 537 foundations, therefore you are in the slow zone.
5 engines = 10 speed , but since you are in slow zone 10/2=5 speed
5 is still more than 2,5 so you will be sailing in max speed(2,5).
